Anti Hero
If you have ever watched the television program "Dexter" on Shotime you would understand he is the perfect example of an anti hero. Dexter's mother was brutally murdered in front of his face when he was child, and the police officer who found him, adopted him. At an early age his adopted father started noticing very "unusual" traits in Dexter. Dexter grows up to be a blood analyst in a Miami Metro police department. He is married, has kids, lives a normal life except in his spare time he is a mass serial killer. Luckily his father, Harry, noticed this from a young age and taught him a code to live by; to only kill people who deserve it. Typical heroes displayed in comic books and on TV usually do not stalk the villians, tie them down, slice them up into pieces, and toss them in the ocean, yet this is Dexter's routine. Also, throughout the show Dexter has these internal monologues, where he describes how he really has no feelings and his whole life he is pretending. For some reason I do not want to like Dexter because in his head he is such a wierd demented guy, but it is impossible not to view him as a hero.
